Quick Album Review: The Civil Wars (Self-Titled)
THE NUTSHELL:
The Civil Wars is a Nashville folk-country outfit that has been widely praised for their 2011 debut LP, Barton Hollow. The duo couldn't have released this self-titled album at a more relevant time where indie music is starting to become a norm amongst listeners. Certain tracks here may be too country for my preference but must I say, every song that is in this project is very well written and thought out. The execution is far from futile and has a subtle yet eager feel. It is a brilliant effort from the Grammy winning band.
LOVED TRACKS:
-The One That Got Away
-Same Old Same Old
-Dust to Dust
-Eavesdrop
-Tell Mama
-Disarm
-Sacred Heart
HATED TRACKS:
-Devil's Backbone
SCORE/GRADE:
8/10 (B+)
